A group of astronauts of 5 people set to Mars to build the first
colony of human race. They are going and never come back. Their
data send back to Earth will be very valuable for us thus their
wellbeing is crucial and top priority. 5 people which consist of an
engineer (which this will be you), a doctor who double as a
nutritionist, an astrobiologist, a philosopher and a Launch Vehicle
Control Engineer are the first ever human to set foot on Mars. The
group will rendezvous with Pathfinder, the robot rover, who has
been out of communication since March 2018. It is crucial for them
to find the robot rover as it carries vital information of soil
fertility as it was last seen by NASA. Once their space craft reach
the safe orbit of Mars, they started to contact the Mars Global
Surveyor (MGS) satellite to be the scanner anchor. This will
able them to scan the Mars surface for the possible site where
Pathfinder was last known. Using the MGS satellite, the crew
begins their search in the concentration of “pings” where they sent
radar signal down to Mars surface. The Pathfinder will then,
hopefully, answers their signals with “pings” answers so that the
crew can locate the whereabout of the robot rover indefinitely.
Usually the return “pings” from a robot rover is higher than the
return signal collected by the radar on board of the MGS
satellite.
Table Q1 to Table Q4 show the concentration of “pings” in Hertz
by 4 crew members in four different zones of last know possible
site that the Pathfinder was lost in communication. As
an engineer of the mission, locate where is the position of
the Pathfinder using the most possible statistical analysis methods
that you have learn so far in with the appropriate significant
level.
