i would like to have this question solves, thank you in
advanced.
Two observers are situated either side of an outer planet
(planet A – with
a diameter equal to that of the Earth) with an inner planet, planet
B.
Planet B orbits their sun in a roughly circular orbit. When planet
B ap-
pears at the largest angular distance from the sun as seen by the
observers
on planet A, the two observers measure the parallax angle of planet
B. The
parallax they measure (2 ˆ p) is 0.32’. It is determined that the
maximum
angular separation between the sun and planet B at this time is 12
degrees.
a) By determining the distance from planet A to planet B at that
time,
determine the distance from the sun to planet B in AU [3].
b) When the parallax observations are taken, planet B is
observed to
subtend an absolute angular diameter of 18” (i.e. it is measured to
be
18 arcseconds across) and from orbital dynamics is determined to
have a
mass of 0.75 MC. By determining the density, would this planet
likely
class as terrestrial or Jovian? [4]
