EEED283, Semester 2, 2018/2019 QUESTION 1 [20 MARKSI Table 1: Data of loading conditions Generator 3-0 , 50 Hz Y-connected source Load Voltage 2200V (V) Loads SA is 180.3kVA at pf = 0.555 Voltage leads current S8 is 277.3kVA at pf = 0.9 Voltage leads current Sc is 218KVA at pf = 0.816 Current lags voltage Line impedance Z line = 0.4 + |2.70 Table 1 shows data of a simple power system containing a 3-0, 50Hz, Y-connected generator source and three loads in parallel. (Assume phase e is the reference phase). Determine the following: The real, reactive, and apparent power absorbed by the loads. [4 Marks] The magnitude of the supply voltage. [4 Marks] The real and reactive power loss in line. (3 Marks] (d) The real, reactive, and apparent power delivered from source. [3 Marks] Determine the value of capacitor bank in KVAR to be connected in parallel for overall source power factor to be improved to 0.9 lagging. (Assume Y-connected capacitor bank). [6 Marks]
