Aim: To measure the voltages and current in a series LR circuit. Components: Resistor 5600 Inductors (100mH, 220 mH) Equipment: CRO, Function generator DMM 1. 2. a. b. c. Connect the circuit shown in Fig 4-1 and apply a 5 ms sine wave at 500 Hz to the circuit. (Use the DMM to set the voltage correctly.) Using the DMM, measure the: Circuit's current I and VR VL Record the results in table 1. Table 1 L-220mH L=100mH I- I- VR- VR VL VL 3. Sketch the voltage phasor diagram and show the measured voltages.
4. Use the measured voltages to calculate: L = 220mH Impedance Z L=100mH XL Phase angle Part C (Practical Review) 1. Were the measured values VR. V and I the same as the calculated results? Yes No 2. What effect did decreasing the value of inductance have on the phase angle? Increase Decrease
