1) The given section below is to be designed for tendons with
constant eccentricity. The beam is simply supported with a span of
19.8 m. Use unit weight of concrete = 23.5 kN/m3. Use
f'c at transfer = 41.4 MPa and f'c at service = 55.16 MPa. Consider
14-1/2'' tendons Grade 270 with fpi = 1303 MPa (initial prestress)
and fpf = 1069 MPa (final prestress) - 50
points
a) Calculate for the required section properties (Area,
centroid, and moment of inertia) - all dimensions are in mm.
b) Calculate the required eccentricity of the section such that
the maximum tension stress at the ends of the span will not exceed
the requirement as per NSCP 2015.
c) Check the compressive and tension stress during transfer
stage at midspan as per NSCP 2015 based on the calculated
eccentricity.
d) Considering a uniform superimposed dead load + live load =
17.53 kN/m, check for the compressive stress limit at service
stage.
e) Check for tension stress limit and determine the
classification of the prestressed member.
