For this problem, you will explore the effect
of variable etoh, on
anxiety. The
variable etoh is a
4-level alcohol dependence measure where 0=not dependent, 1=mildly
dependent, 2=dependent, and 3=highly
dependent.
1. First fit a model with
Y=anxiety and depression, trait,
and etoh as predictors with the
mean, E(anxietyi |
depressioni, etohi,
traiti), on the left side
2. [4-level Alcohol
Exposure, unadjusted] Using regression,
assess the unadjusted bivariate relationship
between anxiety and etoh. Write
the model.
3. [Binary Alcohol Exposure, adjusted for depression
and trait] Fit a model
with depression, trait,
and a binary indicator for
any level of alcohol
dependence as
predictors. Write the model.
I am entering these models into SAS to obtain the parameter
estimates, however I am slightly confused on how to set up the
models. I think question 2 and 3 may need a dummy variable but I am
also stuck on that. Any help would be greatly
appreicated.
