Patient # 2 – Erika McKinney, DOB 7/17/XX MR:
7576623 with acute pain related to 34%
burn coverage
Erika is a one month old female who was brought to the hospital
this morning by her grandmother who thought she was ill because
“she was so red” and wouldn’t stop crying. Erika has been admitted
to your pediatric med/surg unit. Four hours ago, Erika has a FLACC
score of 8/10 and was given Morphine 0.1mg/kg. Erika has
second degree burns and blisters on her feet, lower legs, and
buttocks, and bruises on her upper arms. The admitting
provider has estimated her burns as 34% of her total body surface
area (TBSA). The provider has ordered that you use the
parkland formula.
