In a reactor, 500.0 g of each of the following reagents are mixed: barium nitrate and potassium phosphate (both in solution) to generate a precipitate and an aqueous solution. If the reaction gives a 94.6% yield, answer the following questions.
1. Write and balance the reaction. Remember to write the states of the compounds.
2. Write the type of reaction that takes place.
3. Calculate the molar mass of the 4 substances involved in the process.
4. Write the name of the precipitate that forms
5. Identify the limiting reactant and the excess reactant
6. Calculate the theoretical yield of the reaction.
7.Determine the experimental yield of the precipitate.
8. How many grams of aqueous solution are produced?
9. How much of the excess reactant did not react. 10. Determine the amount of the limiting reagent that was not used (g).
11. Check that the Law of Conservation of Mass is complied with.
