Problem 1: A patient is connected to ground (GND1) by a 10nF capacitor. She also has an external pacemaker plugged into a receptacle with a ground (GND2) that displays a 100mV 60Hz sinusoidal waveform compared to GND1. Assuming that there is a fault and the pacemaker is disconnected from the ground but still connected to the 100mV, 60Hz source, draw an equivalent electrical model and determine if the patient is safe by calculating the leakage current through the patient. (Assume skin resistance is 10kohm and the body resistance 5Kohm). Problem #2: You are asked to build an amplifier for a pH meter with a gain of 20. You have two opamps (infinite gain but finite input resistance of 2Mohm), several resistors (10k or 1k). The pH meter has an internal source resistance of 5Mohm and output voltage 1mv. Design an amplifier for the pH meter, derive an equation for the gain and calculate the output voltage. Design your amplifier in MultiSim, compare your results to the MultiSim output.
