Question 10: A sheep dealer claims that the mean of weights of his sheep is 42 Kg. A simple random sample of 36 sheep was withdrawn from the flock. We found that these sheep have mean 44 Kg with standard deviation 2.5 Kg. If we know that the weights of sheep are normal distributed, then: a) Determine 95% confidence interval for the mean of all sheep in the flock. b) If the size of sample is 81, then use the significance level a =0.02 to test the null hypothesis Ho : 4 = 42 Kg versus the alternative hypothesis H, : H > 42 Kg. c) If the point estimation ī is used to estimate H, what is the margin error 8, (for 95% confidence level)? d) If the margin error 8, = 0.015 (for 99% confidence level), what is the sample size (n) to be withdrawn ? Question 11: : We suppose that the number of defects in newly manufactured cars in each working shift is a normal distributed random variable X with a mean u = 36 and standard deviation o = 3.
