You are an emergency services for mothers and families experiencing domestic violence social service worker (the agency you researched and uploaded for week 13’s assignment). You receive a referral for Kimberley Jane, and her three kids: John Jane, Richard Jane and Susie Jane. The referral gives you the following information:
Kimberley Jane and her three kids lived in a home with their father.
The father was neglectful of the children, and physically abused Kimberly
Kimberley and her children have no family support near the area
Kimberly is worried about a safe place to stay, and her ability to support her children as she was a stay at home mother.
Introduce your role-play by stating:
Who the service user (Kimberly & her family) is and what the context of the role-play is (where is it happening, under what circumstances, e.g. voluntary, referral, first meeting, half way through something?) this is up to you.
What is the purpose of the interaction between yourself and the service user?

You need to demonstrate that you are working from a critical social service work approach. Your work with the service user, and demonstration of relevant processes will emerge from the critical social work approach
Here you need to show that you are using proper social service worker language and documentation.
You will need to ensure you case notes demonstrate:
How you asked open ended questions in a sensitive way to gather the most information from Kimberly
Ensure the children are are properly taken care of and have not experienced the abuse (this is reportable to police services)
What services you are providing Kimberly to ensure she and her children have: Shelter, food, and basic necessities
Schedule an ongoing counseling service for both the mother & children
Reflection piece:
Does the organization you are mock working for cover all the basis of what a family would need in this situation?
Did you need to refer them to any outside agencies because it didn’t provide all necessary services?
Are there any risks to the family that are leaving the abusers home? What are they? How can we ensure we support this family to ensure no further damage?
