Construction ABCDE (see figure below) resembles a simplified
model of a roof truss with tension bar and is subjected to a
vertical point force equal to 10kN. Supporting point A is
considered to be a hinge support, point B is a rolling support. The
tension bar DE can be considered to be a truss (meaning that it is
mounted to bars AC and BC using hinges in point D and E) which can
take both tensile and compressive forces. The connection in point C
between bars AC and BC is realized using an internal hinge. The
connection in C is realized as shown in the middle figure, the
hinge connection in point D and E are realized as shown in the
bottom figure. All pins are made out of steel.
