2- Reflection: What hobbies do you have in
which you spend much time and use your talents/skills? If none, why
do you think that is? Give reasons that apply to you and perhaps
for other students.
3- What were some activities you used to do when you were a
kid?
4- Recall these activities and put yourself back there, how did
they feel? What did you accomplish? How did you feel about yourself
doing them? What positive experiences emerged? What negative
experiences did you have and what did those teach you?
5-Why did your parents feel it was important to put you in
extracurricular activities?
6- PPI: Flow. Think about where you could achieve flow on
a weekly basis in your current life. What did you used to do that
brought you joy that you could do again? Or what might be a new
activity that you could devote a little time weekly so that you
could be rejuvenated for your work and move yourself towards a
greater version of yourself? (1)
Miriam Miriam lives with her parents and has a great life. She meets with different friends for lunch and shopping a few times a week. She sits with her parents and grandparents when she can. She really loves flowers and cats. She has no need to work and hasn't been interested in going to school so far. She's happy with her life, but every now and again, she looks at other people and wonders how they get to be successful or what they do to be so busy. She sometimes feels bored and has a sneaking feeling she could be doing more with her life. Ahmed Ahmed is studying to be an engineer. He also has a part-time job and works nights. But, two things he always makes time for is the gym and architectural design. He works out intensely for 30 minutes a day, combining weights and cardio. It's hard but it gives him energy and a break from life. He also takes 15 minutes every night to work on his architectural drawings. It's not his major; he just likes it. He checks on other designs and tries to improve them. He's made some interesting plans and sent them to architects for feedback. He likes the challenge of learning every day and pushing himself even if it's tiring.
