Patient History: An older patient is having a
regular check-up with their general practitioner (GP). In the past
couple of winters, they have had severe influenza and pneumococcal
infections. They are also finding that cuts are taking a bit longer
to heal, and they have had a couple of nasty skin infections
recently. Their level of C-reactive protein (CRP) is slightly
elevated, and their leukocyte count is slightly below the normal
range.
Diagnosis: The GP recommends that the patient
has an influenza and pneumococcal booster vaccine, as well as the
new Shingrix shingles vaccine.
