A 52-year-old- male patient presented to the cardiology unit at
Footscray Hospital with shortness of breath. A B-type natriuretic
peptide (BNP) test was performed on his serum sample on a Siemens
Atellica biochemistry analyser. The result returned:
BNP 420
pmol/L (Reference
interval <40 pmol/L)
A serial dilution was later performed on the same sample by a
scientist in the laboratory. The results showed:
