2. Benzene (CH) is the simplest, colorless, and highly flammable aromatic hydrocarbon (or arene) with a sweet smell. It has been widely used to produce consumer products such as plastics, resins, synthetic fibers, rubber, lubricants, dyes, detergents, drugs, and pesticides. In the production process, the benzene will be synthesized to an intermediate derivative before it is further used to produce valuable products. Choose FIVE (5) plastic products of your interest that are derived from different benzene derivatives. Outline the synthesis mechanism with all the necessary reactants and chemicals to produce the benzene derivative starting from benzene as one of the reactants. Your answers should consider the following: • Explanation on the associated benzene derivative used in the production of your chosen polymer. The appropriate synthesis mechanism to produce the benzene derivatives • Use curve arrows to indicate the movement of electrons in the reaction mechanism • Show the presence of resonance structure if any. Support your answer with at least ONE (1) reputable source of reference for EACH of the selected plastics. 160 marks
