Part1- Background Knowledge Manufacturing is responsible for developing the tools and technologies that will advance society and our education system, helping to build an even stronger economy and global presence. In a community where manufacturing is the main occupation, improving the industrial productivity and efficiency are key. Without productive manufacturing, our community a will be in serious trouble. To engage high school students in asking questions and finding answers about chemistry in real- life and in industry, you clarify concepts related to percent yield, activation energy, and reaction rate. 1- Manufacturing companies strive for higher percent yield. Why is the percent yield important in industrial processes? Explain (Refer to the links: Resource 1 & Resource 2) 2- Activation energy, collision theory, and reaction rate affect the productivity of industrial processes. How are these concepts related? Explain. (Refer to the links: Resource 3, Video 1, Resource 4 & Resource 5) 3- Some industries require a decrease in the rates of reactions instead of speeding them up. (Refer to the links Resource 6 & Resource 7 ) • Name an industry that requires such criteria. How is this possible? Suggest and explain two different ways.
