Question 10 a b
10. (a) A wave traveling along a string in horizontal is described by, y(x, t) = 0.00327 sin(68.2x-3.25t), where x and fare in meter and second respectively. The string linear density is μ = 1.4×10 kg/m. (i) Compute the wavelength of the wave along the string. [2 marks]
(ii) Calculate the speed of the wave in horizontal along the string. [1 mark] (iii) Calculate the maximum speed of the string moving in vertical. [2 marks] (b) Two identical waves have displacement amplitude of 9mm, moving in the same direction, are out of phase by rad. Calculate the displacement amplitude of the resultant wave. [1 mark]
