The average speed of molecules in an ideal gas is 4 M 3/2 V = -Mv²/(2RT) v³ e So dv π 2RT 0 where M is the molecular weight of the gas,. R is the gas constant, Tis the gas temperature, and v 8RT M k= = v= is the molecular speed. Show that TM Hint: Let 2RT to make things neater.
