• State Ampere's law, defining all symbols used, and explain its physical meaning. • An infinitely long hollow cylinder is laying along the x-axis. It has a constant current density J between its inner radius r; = 2.0 cm and its outer radius r = : 4.0 cm with a total current of 8.0 A flowing in the negative x-direction. 1. Derive a formula for the magnetic field as a function of radius r for the inner part of the cylinder, i.e. for r < r¡ . 2. Derive a formula for the magnetic field as a function of radius r outside of the cylinder, i.e. for r>ro. 3. Determine the magnetic field strength at r = = 1 cm, r 3 cm and r = 5 cm. • A particle with charge 2.0 nC is passing through point (0, 5.0, 0) cm with a speed of 3.8 × 105 ms ¹ in the (1, 0, 0) direction parallel to the cylinder. Determine the force that the particle experiences.
