A 0.5 kg block slides down a frictionless track starting from the height of 2.00 m above the
horizontal as shown in the figure. At the bottom of the track where the surface is horizontal, the
block strikes and sticks to the other 0.4 kg block attached to a spring. The spring constant
20.0 N/m.
a) Find the speed of the 0.5 kg block right before the collision with the 0.4 kg block.
b) Find the speed of both blocks right after the collision.
c) Find the maximum distance the spring is compressed.
d) How much time does it take for both blocks to travel the maximum distance?
