A thermoelectric plant operates with a Rankine cycle with
reheating. Steam enters the high pressure turbine at 8 MPa and
500°C and leaves at 3 MPa. The steam is reheated to 500°C at
constant pressure and is expanded to 20 kPa in the low-pressure
turbine.
a) Display both the process diagram and the T-s diagram of the
cycle
b) Determine the thermal efficiency: 1) Neglecting the
irreversibilities in the expansion/compression processes, and
2)
considering them (propose isentropic efficiencies for both the
expansion and compression processes)
c) Show (in a table or graph) and analyze (explain) the effect of
the pressure variation at the high pressure turbine outlet.
pressure on the thermal efficiency of the cycle when considering
the irreversibilities in the expansion processes and in the
compression.
