There is a refrigerator that works under the real
vapor compression cycle and uses R-134a
refrigerant. The conditions are as follows:
Compressor inlet: 100 kPa and-10 °C
Compressor outlet: 1445 kPa and 57°C
Condenser outlet: 1115 kPa and 37°C
Expansion valve outlet (isoenthalpic process):
100 kPa
Mass flow: 0.0009672 kg/s
a) Display both the process diagram and the T-s
diagram of the cycle
b) Determine the coefficient of performance or
operation (COP, in English) of the refrigerator
c) Indicate which conditions of the cycle could be
modified to increase the COP of the cycle. Show
(in a table or graph) how the COP is increased
when such modifications are considered, and
explain why.
