Problem Statement The elementary irreversible gas phase reaction A + B 1.5C + 0.5D takes place in a fluidized bed reactor (FBR) containing 50 kg of catalyst. The feed entering the FBR is contains species A and B, and the flow rate of species B is 1.3 times the flow rate of species A. The feed enters the FBR at a temperature of 400 K and a pressure of 20 atm. The FBR is operated isothermally. The conversion achieved in the FBR is 40%. The pressure drop in the FBR can be determined from dP dW = -0.016 atm/kg A packed bed reactor (PBR) is connected downstream in series with the FBR (FBR-PBR). The PBR is operated isothermally. The PBR contains 250 kg of catalyst and the pressure drop parameter a is 0.0003 1/kg. Determine the conversion achieved at the exit of the PBR.
