In a 1.5 m long shell-tube multitube heat exchanger, TC-2.4, a
Product A (cp = 6000 J/Kg.K) with coef. film 500 W/m2 .K, with a
mass flow rate of 1,800 Kg/h, it is heated from 373k to 403 K,
which exchanges heat with oil (cp= 3,800 J/Kg.K) with coef. of film
1120 W/m2 .K , and enters the temperature of 423 K and exits at 120
°C. Considering a total soot factor of 0.001. Do the calculations
using the method Ft-MLTD, use table and area graph to two decimal
places. It is asked: A) What is the mass flow rate of oil; and
which fluid will pass through the tube; B) The required heat
exchange area for the exchanger; C) The number of tubes, the
outside diameter being 0.5". D) The velocity of the fluid in the
tubes, with the density of Product A being 1.2kg/L and the density
of oil = 800 kg/m³.
