Problem one (50 Points) Suppose that two liquid storage tanks are placed in series, so that the outflow from the first tank is the inflow to the second tank, as shown in Fig. 1. If the outlet flow rate from each tank is proportional to the height of the liquid (head) in that tank. (a) find the transfer function relating changes in flow rate from the second tank, Q2(s), to changes in flow rate into the first tank, Qi(s). (b) Show how this transfer function is related to the individual transfer functions, Hi(s)/Qi(s), Qi(s)/Hi(s), H₂(s)/Qi(s), and Q₂(s)/H2(s). Assume that the two tanks have different cross-sectional areas A₁ and A2, and that the valve resistances are R₁ and R2, where the valve resistance related linearly to the liquid height.
