Consider the following cell (at 298 K): Mn(s) | Mn²+ (aq) || Ni²+ (aq) | Ni(s) where [Mn²+] = c1 and [Ni²+] = (a) Determine the conventional cell reaction and hence write down the Nernst equation for the cell in terms of the concentrations c1 and c2. (b) Determine the cell potential when all species are present in their standard states, and hence state the spontaneous cell reaction. (c) Calculate the ratio of c1:c2 that will lead to the spontaneous cell reaction being the opposite of that determined in (b).
