19. Ozone is commonly used as a drinking water disinfectant (especially in Europe). Ozone is highly reactive with the pathogens it is intended to kill, as well as with non- target organic matter in the water. It is known that ozone's reaction in drinking water follows first-order kinetics with a 50% decrease in its concentration in 12 minutes (t1/2 = 12 min). A water supplier wants to inject ozone into a pipe bringing water to a water treatment plant to predisinfect the influent. The 1 m diameter pipe is 1000 m long and has a flow of 0.65 m³/s. What concentration of ozone (in mg/L) should be injected at the head of the pipe so that there will be an ozone concentration of 1.0 mg/L at the pipe's exit to the plant. Start by drawing a process flow diagram. (2 pts) and then solve the problem (12 pts).
