Wastewater from a small rural town has been estimated to have a maximum design flow of 8,000 m³/day, a BOD load of 6,500 kg/day and suspended solids of 3,000 kg/day. Calculate the BOD and SS concentrations in mg/L. On an average, the domestic wastewater from this town contains 100 g of BOD/person per day and flows at 250 L/person per day. Determine the equivalent population for the town based on: • BOD; and • Hydraulic conditions.
