A simply supported beam carries a concentrated load P-500KN. The load is transferred to the beam by a steel plate with a length of N=100mm as shown in Figure 3.2. The beam is made of 150x100x10 RHS, Grade C450LO with the section properties as shown in Table 3.2. Determine the bearing capacity of the beam at the mid-span and check the suitability of the beam in carrying the load.
