CIVL531 GROUNDWATER ENGINEERING Homework # 9 SUPERPOSITION Question: (Image of Wells with variable discharge-lake & fault) A discharging well pumping water in two stages as shown below from homogenous, isotropic confined aquifer having transmissivity of 0.15 m²/s and storativity of 0.0006. The aquifer is infinitely long in one direction but it is however bounded by an impervious boundary (barrier) from the well 450 m and a recharging (permeable) boundary 650 m apart as shown. Find the drawdown at observation well A at the end of time t-24 hrs. Neglect the effect of image wells causing Drawdown less than 0.005 m at well A. Note that A is 85 m away from discharge well at its North. (m³/min) 35 28 15 10 20 25 30 35 time (hr) 85 m A observation point impervious boundary 5 450 m P pumping well 650 m lake
