Problem 7.6 For the two stress states shown in Figure 7.6, the stress components are given by ox,A = 0,0y,A = 0, Txy,A = 95 N/mm² with ß-45 deg. and ox,B = 44 N/mm², Oy,B = 88 N/ mm², Txy,B = 35 N/mm². a) Determine the resultant stress state obtained by superposition of A and B, b) For the resultant stress state, determine the principal stresses and the angle of rotation required to obtain the principal axes. Ans: a) dx = 139 N/mm², ay = -7 N/mm², Txy = 35 N/mm² b) ₁ = 146.96 N/mm², 0₂ = -14.96 N/mm²,0₁ = 12.8 deg, 0₁ = 102.8 deg
