To provide the pinion with maximum rigidity, tapered roll bearings are arranged in X-arrangement (direct mounting). The radial, axial and tangential forces acting on the pinion are: W₁ = 1500 N, W₁= 2500 N, and W₁= 9000 N. The pitch radius of the pinion is rp-40 mm. The shaft rotates at 1000 rpm and desired life is 1000 hour. Rating life of these tapered rolling bearings (each) are at reliability of 99%. L1 and L2 dimensions shown in the figure are 100 mm and 40 mm. Select suitable tapered roller bearings from "TIMKEN single-row straigth bore tapered roller bearings" given in Table 11-15. 2) A bearing is subjected to a radial load of 12 kN and an axial load of 8.5 kN. Shaft rotating at n = 900 rpm, will have a minimum diameter of 65 mm. with a reliability of 95% and a life of 1500 millions of revolutions,. Take application factor as 1.2 (poor bearing seals).
