During Machining of medium carbon steel with 10 degree rake
angle cutting tool, the following observation have been made: Depth
of cut = 0.4 mm, cutting force = 1600 N, Feed = 0.2 mm/rev, Thrust
force = 850 N, Cutting speed = 200 m/min and Chip thickness = 0.4
mm. Calculate the following: (a) The shear force and the normal
force on the shear plane, and (b) The friction force and the normal
force on the tool face.
