I have a presentation group and my part is the introduction, key
Issues & Stakeholders: I will be presenting my part for two
minutes:(And this is what I wrote to present it but I think
it's not enough for two minutes speaking) (I also provided you
with part of the assignment so it can help you:
My script for the presentation: (please keep it
simple)
Hi, we are group number one and we have chosen La Moka coffee
shop for our Business Operations Analysis assignment. La Moka is a
small café that has been operating since 2014. Throughout the
years, the business has been trying to keep up with the
ever-changing market, as demand has remained constant for many
years. So, generally, the business is doing well, but, as with all
businesses, some key operational issues have developed over time.
And La Moka's main concerns are sustainability, flexibility, cost,
and quality. An important issue is how to remain sustainable in an
environmentally conscious society. In addition to being a
performance objective, sustainability is something La Moka may have
to consider more since its cups are currently paper but its lids
are still plastic. Society as a whole is a stakeholder, so this
decision will affect everyone,
My operation analysis assignment:
Introduction:
La Moka is a small café located in the CBD, and has been
operating since 2014. Since then, the business has attempted
to keep up with the ever-changing market, as rises and falls in
demand remain a constant over the years. The business is
moderately successful, however, as with any business operating for
a considerable amount of time, some key operational issues become
apparent. At La Moka, namely issues with sustainability,
flexibility, cost, and quality are of main concern.
Key Issues & Stakeholders:
As mentioned, one such issue is remaining sustainable in an
environmentally conscious society. While governments debate
whether implementing green policies will impact the economy,
businesses have found doing so, increases the likelihood of
returning customers, as their customer experience feels beneficial
to them, and to the planet (Jang et al, 2015). This concern
with sustainability, itself a performance objective, is something
La Moka may have to consider more, as while it currently uses paper
cups, its lids are still plastic. As society as a whole is
the stakeholder, therefore, this decision would impact everyone, it
would be prudent to act on this.
Regarding the individuals who make up society, ensuring they
have flexible options is a must for any service shop industry
dealing with high volume and variety (Slack, 2005). La Moka
currently caters to those preferring regular, soy, and almond milk
in their coffee, however, with products such as oat, macadamia, and
lactose-free milk available, the business may not be as flexible as
could be. Stakeholders here include: the customers, who could
benefit from greater options; wholesalers and their supply
networks, as they would provide the café the goods to create more
options; and staff, as they would have to learn to adapt to serving
more options and taking unfinished goods, transforming them to then
have finished goods.
Maintaining costs at a low is an obvious and constant concern
for any business. La Moka is no different, as it juggles the
needs of its staff, customers, and suppliers, as it attempts to be
as efficient as possible. Lastly, as La Moka has been operating for
a considerable time, the business has acquired a reputation for
good quality. While this is beneficial to customers and the
business, it is also a significant concern, as staff must be
trained in ensuring this quality is maintained.
