Strategic Advice / Memo to the CEO
Choose any existing organization. This can be an organization
you work or used to work for, but it does not need to be. It is
preferable that the chosen organization is for-profit, but it does
not need to be. The organization must be real and currently
operating. Prepare a Memo to the CEO of that organization. You
should include the following content: - Review the organization’s
current strategy and business model. You can use any method or
approach (e.g., Positioning and Resource Based approaches to
strategy, Business Model Canvas). approx. 250 words - Consider how
contextual forces might impact the viability of the organization’s
strategy and business model in the coming 3-5 years. For
contextual/macro forces you can use any framework you want (eg.,
PESTLE, DRIVE, …). It is preferable that you focus on one or two
elements of the chosen framework and analyze them in depth. approx.
250 words - Describe a desired future state. This is the process of
defining the desired pathway for embracing a strategic driver and
for innovating the business model (based on two or three BMI
Patterns) in response to contextual changes.
