Question 1: Complete mixing model for gas permeation in membrane A membrane process is to be designed to separate a binary mixture of gas A and gas B. The feed flow rate of the mixture is q = 4 x 10³ cm³ (STP)/s and the composition of gas A in the feed is x = 0.45. The membrane process is to be operated with a feed-side pressure of Ph= 100 cm Hg and permeate-side pressure of p 25 cm Hg. Gas A has a permeability through the membrane of P = 350 x 10-10 cm³ (STP) cm/(s cm² cm Hg), and the ratio of permeability of component A to that of component B is a = 10. If the thickness of the membrane is t = 2.54 x 10 cm and the reject composition is x, = 0.25, by using complete mixing model calculation method, (a) determine the permeate composition, yp (b) determine the fraction permeated, (c) determine the membrane area, Am
