Question Four [3 Quiz marks] Heat and energy transfer. (a) How much heat is required to change 1.2 kg of water at 20°C to steam at 100°C? The specific heat capacity of water in this temperature range and the specific latent heat at 100°C for liquid to vapour can be found in the attached data tables. (b) (i) Explain, with the aid of a suitable diagram, heat transfer by conduction. (ii) Calculate the heat flow rate through a 6 mm thick glass door of dimensions 1.8 m by 3.5 m if the surface temperature of one face is 35°C and the other face is 34°C. The thermal conductivity of glass can be found in the attached data sheet.
