It is desired to develop the geothermal
potential of a certain area by the installation of a 20 MW steam
turbo-generator using a back pressure turbine preliminary
investigation showed that the area has sufficient steam capacity to
produce the required power capacity the manufacturer data for their
turbine are as follows:
1.0) Throttle Pressure
1.7 MPag Steam w/ 2% wet
2.0) Back Pressure
51 mm- Hg vacuum
3.0) Geothermal Turbine Eff.
75%
4.0) Mechanical-Electrical
Eff. 94%
If the barometer in the area averages 750 mm-Hg
abs. and production wells have each a capacity of 5000 kg/hr with a
reinjection rate of 10 % in the steam drum. Determine the number of
steam wells required for this installation?
