We are sending packets with MTU of 1500B over this channel. The distance between transmitter and receiver is 2000Km and the channel transmits the data at the rate of 10Mbps. The channel is using Stop& Wait ARQ protocol. The channel has a delay of 5µs/Km. Processing time is negligible. Assume that (1-p)"=e". The channel has BER=10³ 2000Km A B 10Mbps a) Calculate: How long does the entire transmission_take? ● How many retransmissions are required to complete the entire transmission? Sketch the timing diagram. ● ● Hint: you need to consider Ack packets b) Assume the frames are sent from node B to node C of the distance of 500Km and same BER with data rate of 1Mbps. Stop and Wait is used as ARQ protocol. Ack packets are negligible. ● Do you need any buffering on node B? Prove your answer numerically and graphically. c) Assume the data rate between nodes B and C in (b) is R. What would be the minimum R that we do not need buffering in node B? d) Calculate the effective data rate of the channel between A to C with parameters in (b).
