Hint Assistance Used Csp3-O bonds are cleaved in the presence of HBr. So an ether (ROR) is generally cleaved into two alkyl bromides, unless one of the carbon atoms (connected to the O of the ether) is sp2 hybridized. In such case, that C-O bond is not cleaved.
