A mixture of gases enter a nozzle at 2.5 bar and 237◦C with a speed of 20 m/s. The inlet diameter of the nozzle is 0.45 m. The objective is to achieve an exit velocity of 300 m/s. Assuming quasistatic flow conditions through the nozzle,
a) Determine the pressure that should be maintained at the nozzle exit and
b) Calculate the exit diameter.
Take Cp = 1.15 kJ/kg ・K and γ = 1.3 for the gases. Assume ideal gas behavior and steady adiabatic flow through the nozzle.
