Task: The ILO estimates that some 2.3 million women and men around the world succumb to work-related accidents or diseases every year, and this corresponds to over 6000 deaths every single day! It went further to say that, there are around 340 million occupational accidents and 160 million victims of work- related illnesses annually (ILO, 2020). Fatalities resulting from accidents in construction rose by about 4% in 2018 and the Bureau of Labour Statistics (BLS) showed that there were 1,008 construction deaths last year (2018) in the private sector, compared with 971 in 2017 (Ichniowski, 2019). According to OSHA (2019) the breakdown of the top four causes of deaths and their contribution to the 1,008 construction fatalities are as follows: 1. Falls-338 out of 1,008 total deaths in construction in CY 2018 (33.5%) 2. Struck by Object-112 (11.1%) 3. Electrocutions -86 (8.5%) Caught-in/between* - 55 (5.5%) According to OSHA, eliminating the Fatal Four would save 591 workers' lives in America every year (OSHA, 2019). Those who died as result of these accidents are husbands who have left behind widows, they were fathers who have now left orphans behind, and they were bread-winners and have now created a vacuum in their families. The enormous social and economic costs has made it pertinent to continue to highlight the importance of practicing proper Health and safety on every construction site and reinforcing these within classroom settings of construction-related academic courses. You are required to research and write a 1500-word essay identifying causes of construction accidents, their social, economic, legal and financial effects; and possible solutions to mitigate their recurrence. The report should be typed in Arial font size 12 at 1.5 line spacing, fully "justified" with referencing and citation in Harvard styles. 0 Assessment Components Weight Introduction (Citations and references should be included in this section) 10% LO# Assessment Component
