Mechanical 10 m Plant Room a) Determine the type of fire-fighting systems to be applied for the general office building. For each fire- fighting system that you installed, calculate the required number for the entire building. (ULO 6) b) Each floor has two office rooms with sky-blue ceilings and light-stone coloured walls. Each office room is assumed to have dimensions of 20mx15mx3m. The working plane is 1 m above the floor. New Streamlite double-lamp luminaires are to be used and their normal spacing-to-height ratio SHR is 1.5. A high standard of maintenance will be assumed, giving a maintenance factor of 0.85. The lighting design lumens is taken as 5,000 lm for the whole light fitting. Each luminaire has a power rating of 120W. Calculate the number of luminaires needed for each floor. Determine the electrical power of the lighting system in the building. (ULO 2) c) Calculate the sound pressure level in the nearest office room (see (b) for dimensions) adjacent to the plant room given that the mechanical plant room has a sound pressure level of 80 dBA. The plant room has a volume of 15mx15mx4m. The plant room wall has an acoustic attenuation of 20 dBA. Sound radiates from the wall with a directivity index of 2 dB. The reverberation time in the office room is 0.6s. The office wall has a sound reduction index of 10 dB. (ULO 3)
