A double Ferris wheel consists of two vertically rotating wheels A and B that are attached to each other by a bar. The bar also Brotates. The axis of rotation of the bar is 8 m above the ground. The period of rotation of the bar is 24 s. The distance between the axes of rotation of the wheels is 9 m. The radius of each wheel equals 3 m. The period of rotation of each will is 12 s. The bar starts in the vertical position (see the diagram at the left). A Rider A starts at the lowest point of the wheel A. Rider B starts at the lowest point of the wheel B. 1. Write a function describing the height of the rider A above the ground after t seconds. 2. Write a function describing the height of the rider B above the ground after t seconds. 3. Find out the main features of the function describing the height of the rider A above the ground, and sketch one cycle of this function. 4. Find out the main features of the function describing the height of the rider B above the ground, and sketch one cycle of this function.
