Question t: Gold may be associated with rock that contains uranium. A river flows through a gold mining area before reaching a dam that supplies a large town of drinking water. What sampling approach will you follow to determine if the sediment of the dam is contaminated with uranium compounds? Take a quantity of sediment from the bottom of the dam that is large enough that it represents the composition of the whole. Small amounts of sediment should be taken from the bottom of the dam in many locations and then blended to represent the whole. Both approaches are valid for this problem. None of these approaches would work for this problem.
