Case study 4 Paramedics were called to a workplace to treat an
18-year-old female with acute behavioural disturbance. The woman
was delivered an intramuscular injection of 10 mg droperidol.
Shortly after the delivery of this drug, however, she had an acute
dystonic reaction. Further investigation revealed that the woman
had a history of acute behavioural disturbance and
droperidol-induced acute dystonia.
