What's your earthquake story? If you have experienced an
earthquake firsthand, tell us about it. What was it like? Were you
scared? Was anything damaged? If you have never experienced an
earthquake, you can share a close friend's or family member's story
and/or share how you feel about the impending "Big One (Links to an
external site.)." Does understanding what causes an earthquake make
you more, less, or equally concerned about the earthquakes you
might experience in the future? In other words, do you think that
understanding the geology of an earthquake might make living
through one less scary? More scary? I have a former student who
experienced a big earthquake after she completed my class. She told
me that understanding the geology behind earthquakes helped her
stay calm.
