Part I - Problems (40 points) (1) In the SAINTS plant, gold flower color (G) is dominant over black flower color (g), and fleur stem shape (F) is dominant over straight stem shape (f). The P generation consisted of a homozygous plant that had gold flowers and straight stems that was crossed with a homozygous plant that had black flowers and fleur stems. The progeny from this cross was an F1 generation that all had gold flowers and fleur stems. (a) What are the genotypes of the P generation and the F1 generation? P: (x) F1: (b) Draw a Punnett's square describing a cross between an F1 individual and the black-flowered, fleur-stemmed parent. What are the expected phenotypic ratios from this cross? (Be sure to list the phenotypic categories that go with the ratio numbers.)
