This is a theoretical lab project in which you need to determine the total number of valence electrons, Lewis Structure, number of electron group attached to the central atom, electron group geometry, VSEPR theory sketch of the geometry, molecular geometry, bond angles and bond type (single or double bond) of 14 molecules and ions. Those molecules and ions are: CHCl3, SiF2, H₂S, PCI, 13, BH, CS₂, CIF, ICI, NF3, IFS, SF4, C₂HF, C₂C1₂H₂ Key Concepts Lewis Structures, Valance Electrons, Electron group Geometry, Molecular Geometry. Bond Angles, Types of Bonds, VSEPR theory (valence shell electron pair repulsion theory) Procedure: For each molecule or ion, you need to determine 8 things ( the total number of valence electrons, Lewis Structure, number of electron group attached to the central atom, electron group geometry, VSEPR theory sketch of the geometry, molecular geometry, bond angles and bond type (single or double bond)), and fill the table. Remember each molecule or ion occupies one column in the date table, and there are 8 rows you need to fill for each molecule or ions. For the lab report: There is no formal lab report for this lab. Please fill the table as neat as you can. You need to draw the Lewis structure and VSEPR geometry of the molecules and ions and scan the file and save it as pdf file for upload (if you can embed your drawing in word file, it will be great!). Full credit will not be given to messy structures and sketches.
